What is the ADA, or the Americans with Disabilities Act?
- Signed into law in 1990
- Purpose: to end discrimination, reduce barriers to employment, and ensure access to education for people with disabilities
- Result: increased visibility of people with disabilities, led to reshaping of physical environment, and improved communication access
